Alison Milano-Mailhot is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 12 years of experience providing assessment, treatment, and crisis intervention to children and families in the Litchfield County area. She has worked in a variety of programs and levels of care including EMPS, outpatient, Intensive outpatient, extended day, and emergency room settings. She has worked in collaboration with community providers, schools, and systems of care.
Alison specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescent anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, Attention Deficit Disorders, Autism spectrum Disorders, learning and neurocognitive disorders, and adjustment/life transitions. She has additional experience in safety and crisis planning for at risk youth and provides clients and their families effective tools and resources to address stressful situations. She has extensive training in working with children with developmental disabilities and uses a multi-sensory based approach to learning skills and pro social behaviors in sessions. Alison also has much experience planning and implementing therapeutic groups for children, teens, and parents covering a wide range of topics and skills. She believes in the power of group therapy to provide support, mutual aid, and trust to grow and develop new skills and positive connections. Alison uses a variety of treatment approaches including cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, play and art therapy, and social thinking concepts. She incorporates a combination of individual, family, and group therapy in her treatment to address individual client needs and goals of therapy.
Alison’s kind and gentle personality allows client’s to gain trust, feel heard, and gain the strength and empowerment they need to meet their individual therapy goals. She works hard to advocate for client’s needs and break down barriers to meeting their optimal potential.
