Jennie Santa Maria is a Licensed Professional Counselor who specializes in working with children, families, and adults. Her clinical experience spans over six years in a variety of settings including in-home, schools, and currently in an outpatient setting. She believes that developing a strong, collaborative, trusting and therapeutic relationship is the first step in making change.
Jennie believes that understanding who you are and where you came from are both important factors in understanding your thoughts, emotions, and behavior. Providing a safe space for you to share your story and find the help that you need is her priority. Jennie also specializes in Child-Parent Psychotherapy focusing on reducing the impact of trauma on children while enhancing the attachment between child and caregiver. She understands that children’s behaviors have meaning and she works with caregivers to understand what those behaviors are saying.
Jennie is a trained Circle of Security facilitator. She has extensive experience in the areas of trauma, attachment, adjustment, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and the foster care system. She has knowledge of the DCF system and its impact on families. Jennie finds strengths in her clients and offers a sense of hope and positive energy.
