Jennifer Spooner is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 5 years of experience providing psychotherapy services to a large range of populations. Her career history began in working with children, adolescents and families with co-occurring diagnoses which stemmed from past or present trauma. Later, her path moved into helping and providing guidance to adults and their families that struggle with substance use. She has worked in individual and group style therapeutic treatment with couples, individuals struggle with trauma, victims of domestic violence, substance abuse and individuals who struggle with depression and anxiety. More recently she administrated standardized physiological and trauma assessments on children and adolescents placed in the foster care system.
Jennifer specializes in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship problems, grief/loss, work difficulties, parenting, caregiving, substance abuse and health problems. Her approach is holistic, honoring the mind-body connection and individual strengths. Her style is compassionate, warm, honest and nonjudgmental, and her practice draws from psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. Of note, she attend Liberty University in VA, where she was trained in Christian counseling which is offered upon request.
Jennifer maintains a thirst for knowledge in the therapeutic world and has goals to becoming EMDR certified and certified in Internal Family Systems.
