Kara Boles is a Licensed Professional Counselor with extensive experience working with children, adolescents and adults. As a licensed counselor Kara has worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, trauma, attention deficit disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiance and autism spectrum disorder. She utilizes a strength based person centered approach and is skilled in cognitive behavior therapy and is trauma informed.
Kara has worked with children as young as three years of age in a therapeutic child center providing treatment for trauma, communication skill development and social skills training. She is trained in play therapy which is a developmental approach based on developmental principles. Play therapy is a process in which the child chooses objects, symbols or different types of play to express themselves and work through conflict. Kara is a skilled child therapist in interpreting and child’s play and assists the child in promoting growth and change.
Kara is certified as a Circle of Security Parenting educator and has provided psycho-educational parenting classes. She has exceptional experience with assisting parents with behavioral interventions for their child and creative parenting styles with the goal of improving families.
