Laurie Reisman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the College of Saint Elizabeth in New Jersey as well as a Masters in Social Work from Fordham University. She started her career in Social Work at Family Services of Greater Waterbury and at the prior Child Guidance Clinic in Waterbury.
Laurie has provided testimony on several occasions to the Legislature regarding Children’s Mental Health Issues and continues to advocate for children and families on the state and local level. As a special note, she is also a foster/adoptive parent.
Laurie has spent her career working with children and families with a special affinity towards trauma, particularly child abuse and domestic violence. She has over 25 years experience in working in the Greater Waterbury Area. She also has experience dealing with substance use.
Laurie believes that each person is unique and special. Laurie prides herself in seeing each client as a partner in his or her treatment. She enjoys working with individuals, families and children using a strength-based approach, which means she emphasizes a client’s resiliency and she works to enhance their resourcefulness.
