Megan Theroux is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience working with a variety of age groups in differing treatment settings. She has worked with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples in outpatient treatment, residential treatment, and through in-home services. Megan considers herself to be a client focused and strength-based therapist and believes that success is most often gained through a collaborative therapeutic relationship to explore new ways of navigating difficult emotions. Megan aims to create a therapeutic experience that can allow clients to feel safe and provide space to work through some of life’s difficult times while treating the whole person.
Megan has experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, sexual abuse, substance abuse, family conflict, and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. She has been trained in treatment models that include: Structural and Strategic Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Aggression Replacement Training, Motivation Enhanced Treatment and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Megan has also facilitated groups to improve communication skills, build life skills, and increase the bond felt between adolescents and their parents. Megan has spent the majority of her career supporting clients who are court mandated to treatment who have experienced trauma, loss of loved ones, and high levels of family conflict.
Megan holds a membership with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
