Licensed Professional Counselor
Dr. Patricia Thomas is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. She is also a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors.
Her theoretical orientation is based in CBT and Solution Focused Therapy. Dr. Thomas focuses on helping clients develop effective ways of coping with their presenting difficulties. Clients learn that they have the ability to solve problems in an open and caring environment that maintains respect and trust. Sessions are skills-based and focused on what is working. Using evidenced-based interventions, clients learn strategies to help them practiced productive responses to distressing experiences, anxiety-provoking situations, and negative throughs and feelings.
Dr. Thomas has more than 20 years of experience specializing in working with children, adolescents, and emerging adults with Attention Deficit Disorder, Executive Function deficits, emotional and behavioral difficulties, relationship issues, anxiety, and depression, in addition to those going through life transitions such as adjustment to illness, changing schools, divorce and grief.
Her goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and compassionate environment to help clients identify and understand challenges that impact their well-being and help them achieve their goals.
