Susan Brown, PsyD
Licensed Psychologist
As a licensed psychologist, Dr. Sue is someone who understands the unique issues facing families who have been struggling with mental health problems. Events such as physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, death of a loved one, bullying, and even parental divorce can be debilitating for a child or teen. Trauma often affects family members as well. Encouraging an open dialogue within the family in a supportive environment helps to foster a more cohesive family unit.
Dr. Sue believes that working together with parents to facilitate positive parenting creates a strong alliance that allows parents and their children to conquer difficult situations. Advocating for a child who struggles in school can be a challenging and frightening process. Dr. Sue provides school consultation and evaluation, and she is knowledgeable about accommodations that will benefit clients.
Dr. Sue works with adults as well. She sees clients (adults and children) who suffer from depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-harm, behavioral problems, coparenting struggles, and other issues.
Providing a nurturing and supportive environment for clients and their families to achieve the change they seek in their lives is an important aspect of her practice. As a mother of two, she understands the unique demands of being a working parent and caring for a family.
