Tamar Saunders is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Addictions Counselor who has over 18 years of counseling experience servicing clients of diverse backgrounds, ages and diagnoses. She has worked in a variety of settings that include residential substance abuse treatment, inpatient detox, psychiatric hospitals, adolescent girl’s residential treatment and outpatient behavioral health treatment.

Tamar specializes in working with older adolescents and adults with conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment disorder, substance dependence and trauma. She is trained in several evidenced based models that help individuals who experienced both single and complex traumas.

Tamar utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral model but also has extensive training in Dialectal Behavioral Therapy. She is versed in both abstinent based models and harm reduction for substance abuse treatment. Tamar utilizes Trem, M-Trem, Seeking Safety, Voices, Beyond Trauma: a healing journey for women to assist with PTSD.

Tamar is most interested in meeting each individual where they are and having empathy for their unique situation; building a therapeutic approach that speaks to the individual and assists them in moving forward in the journey of healing and recovery.
