Karissa Piedescalzo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist with a background working with children, adolescents, and young adults. With over seven years of experience she has worked in various settings including; residential, in-home, and crisis intervention with individuals experiencing anxiety, ADHD, oppositional defiance, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism spectrum disorder, adjustment disorder, borderline personality disorder, amongst others.
Working with diverse populations over the years, Karissa has continued to focus on using a strength-base, client-centered approach. She is trained in play therapy techniques to help meet the client where they are at developmentally. These various play techniques are used to encourage the individual to play through their own conflict or struggles in hopes of promoting growth and change. Karissa holds a membership with the Association of Play Therapists and holds a Connecticut school social worker certification. Karissa is compassionate, friendly, and imaginative. She is motivated to work collaboratively with every client in order to instill strength, positivity and hope.
