Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor
Carolyn is an Art Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor. Her passion is helping people to figure out their true aspirations and achieve the things they feel they were meant to do. The creative process allows you to see yourself in a new way, take control of your life story, and explore new possibilities. Art allows you to express things that can be difficult to explain in words. Carolyn believes in a person-centered approach to therapy and combines the use of art and self-reflection to facilitate positive change. Carolyn has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Psychology from Alfred University and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from Albertus Magnus College. In addition to Art Therapy, Carolyn has experience with career counseling and training in Rational Emotive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Carolyn’s individualized art therapy sessions are designed to target a number of personal goals. In your session, she will guide you through art activities and experiences that are custom designed to meet your physical, emotional, social and developmental needs. Art therapy sessions are available for all abilities – no previous art experience is necessary. Goals may include: relieving anxiety, developing coping skills, processing trauma/grief, managing excessive worry, support through life transitions, specialized goals for ASD, treatment of depression and social isolation, reframing negative thoughts, discovering life balance, improving confidence, self-awareness/ self-discovery, personal enjoyment/creating happiness, and many other conditions and concerns.
